Netherlands Removals Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement sets out the steps taken by Netherlands Removals to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking within our business operations and supply chains. We are committed to conducting our activities ethically and responsibly, in full respect of human rights and applicable legislation.
Our Commitment and Zero-Tolerance Policy
Netherlands Removals operates a strict zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery, forced labour, child labour, servitude, and human trafficking. We expect the same high standards from all parties we work with, including suppliers, contractors, agents, and other business partners. Any involvement in, or tolerance of, exploitative practices is entirely incompatible with our values and will result in decisive action, which may include termination of contracts and reporting to relevant authorities.
We recognise that the removals and logistics sectors can be exposed to heightened risks regarding labour exploitation, particularly through temporary labour providers, subcontracted services, and cross-border operations. Our policies and processes are designed to actively identify, assess, and mitigate these risks.
Our Business and Supply Chain
Netherlands Removals provides domestic and international removals and relocation services. To deliver these services, we engage a range of suppliers, including vehicle and equipment providers, storage facilities, packing materials manufacturers, cleaning services, maintenance contractors, and labour agencies. We understand that each of these relationships carries a responsibility to ensure fair and lawful working conditions.
Our supplier expectations are communicated clearly from the outset of any relationship. We require suppliers to comply with all applicable labour, employment, and human rights laws and to uphold standards consistent with our own policies on modern slavery and ethical conduct.
Supplier Due Diligence and Audits
We undertake proportionate due diligence on existing and potential suppliers to reduce the risk of modern slavery in our supply chain. This process may include pre-engagement questionnaires, requests for policy documentation, and verification of compliance with labour and human rights standards. Where risk indicators are identified, we may apply enhanced due diligence procedures.
Supplier audits form a core part of our approach. These audits may be conducted on a scheduled or ad hoc basis and can involve site visits, document reviews, and discussions with management and, where appropriate, workers. We assess working hours, wage practices, freedom of movement, recruitment fees, and the presence of clear grievance mechanisms. Where non-compliance or concerns are identified, we work with the supplier on corrective action plans and set clear timeframes for improvement. Failure to achieve or maintain required standards may result in suspension or termination of the relationship.
Reporting Concerns and Whistleblowing Channels
Netherlands Removals encourages an open culture in which workers, suppliers, and other stakeholders can raise concerns about modern slavery or unethical practices without fear of retaliation. Concerns can be reported to line managers, senior management, or through internal reporting mechanisms made available to our workforce. We also expect our suppliers to maintain their own accessible and confidential reporting channels.
All reports relating to suspected modern slavery or labour exploitation are treated seriously, investigated promptly, and, where appropriate, escalated to senior leadership. We will cooperate fully with law enforcement and regulatory bodies if allegations of criminal conduct arise. Individuals who raise concerns in good faith will be protected from dismissal, disciplinary action, or any other form of detrimental treatment.
Training, Awareness, and Continuous Improvement
We provide relevant staff, particularly those involved in procurement, operations, and human resources, with information and guidance to help them identify indicators of modern slavery and understand the steps to take if concerns arise. We aim to increase awareness among our employees so that they can recognise risk situations, challenge poor practices, and contribute to an ethical culture.
We are committed to continually improving our approach by learning from audits, investigations, industry best practice, and stakeholder feedback. Where higher-risk activities or geographies are identified, we will prioritise additional controls and oversight.
Annual Review and Governance
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement is reviewed at least annually to ensure it remains effective, accurate, and aligned with legal requirements and evolving best practice. As part of the review, we assess the effectiveness of our due diligence, supplier audits, and reporting mechanisms, and we update our action plans where necessary.
The statement is approved by the senior management of Netherlands Removals, who retain overall responsibility for its implementation and for ensuring that the principles set out here are embedded throughout our operations and supply chains.
