How To Avoid Breaking Your Items When You Move House

Everyone dread facing breakages and damages on their moving day, and if you want to avoid breaking your items when you move then have a look at the following tips! Moving house is expensive enough as it is without you needing to pay for repairs or replacements should your belongings get damaged on moving day. It’s much easier and cheaper for you to ensure that your items have been properly packed, carried and loaded into your moving vehicle than it is to have to replace them! Here are the best ways to make sure that your items don’t break when you move! 1)    Invest in the right boxes. If you have the right moving boxes for your breakable or expensive items then you’re much less likely to face breakages when you move. Although second hand boxes sourced from shops and supermarkets are an affordable solution to packing problems, if you’re really worried about your fragile belongings then you might want to buy new boxes. There are many online retailers who specialise in reinforced packing boxes that are designed to protect your items from drops and falls. These are a great idea if you don’t have a box for your television or computer, and they’re definitely worth investing in if you want to keep your items safe on moving day! The ideal box shouldn’t be too big or too small. You should be able to comfortably fit your belongings in alongside the packing materials that you’re using. Never over-pack or over-stuff boxes with fragile items in them, as this can cause them to break very easily. 2)    Buy the proper packing supplies.Finding the right packing materials for your items is just as important as finding the right box. Try bubble wrapping fragile items, as this provides more protection that newspaper would. You might also like to try using towels or bedding if you’re moving fragile items on a budget. Foam packing peanuts and foam boards are a great way to pad out your boxes and they can provide an extra level of protection against the shock of dropping your boxes. Consider the item that you’re packing carefully to ensure that you’re choosing the ideal packing supplies and materials for the job. 3)    Label fragile boxes accordingly.Take the time to ensure that all of your fragile boxes are clearly labelled. Use a thick marker and make sure that you’re writing on every side of the box so that it’s very clear to both your family and your movers that these boxes need to be handled with care. 4)    Use proper lifting techniques.Always lift your fragile boxes with great care to avoid dropping them. If the boxes are too heavy for you then never try to manage them on your own, as this makes it very easy for you to lose your grip on them. Friends and movers can give you a helping hand with heavy boxes, so don’t be afraid to ask if you’re struggling! It’s also important to make sure that you have a clear path to your removal vehicle, so that you can carry fragile boxes without having to worry about tripping or falling over stray items or other boxes. 5)    Load your removal vehicle properly.Make sure that furniture is properly tied down and secure if you’re going to be placing fragile items in your van with them as you don’t want them to fall during transit! The same is true of other boxes – make sure that everything is stable and secure so nothing can fall on or crush your fragile items!
